13th Annual LaAmistad Golf Tournament will be held to raise awareness and funds for LaAmistad, an award winning 501(c)3 nonprofit that mentors students, educates parents, and transforms families throughout the community.

Golf Tournament History
In 2001 Bill held the 1st Annual LaAmistad Golf Tournament which raised 90% of the funds needed to support his new program, LaAmistad. Bill writes “Our goals are to help the students achieve an academic level that will enable them to excel in school. We will take new kindergarten kids each year and continue to work with the children as they move into middle and high school, and hopefully college. I can tell you these children are bright and energetic with a desire to learn that I have not seen before.” The tournament and LaAmistad has continued since, even after Bill’s sudden death in 2004.

LaAmistad Today
LaAmistad continues to thrive today with close to 70 students attending every Monday through Thursday for tutoring and sports programming at Peachtree Presbyterian Church. 100% of LaAmistad students meet the CRCT standard, maintain an A/B average, and 90% read on grade level. Our achievements have been recognized by the Atlanta Public School System and we have been honored as two time winner of their A+ Achievement Award. We have 14 students applying to private school this year, and have LaAmistad graduates attending Emory University and University of Charleston on FULL scholarships!

LaAmistad continues to succeed and grow. We recently launched our new ESL program, English for Successful Living. Our classes have flourished at both our Holy Innocents’ and Peachtree Presbyterian locations; we have close to 150 students enrolled. The successes continue in 2012 as we unveil the first LaAmistad replication site in Mt. Pleasant, Texas at Trinity Baptist Church. We look forward to another year filled with inspiration and achievement!
